A calmer plan for tryout week.
Prepare the practical details, protect confidence, and know what to ask when a decision or offer arrives.
Before the first session
- Confirm the field, arrival time, registration, equipment, and every session date.
- Keep meals, sleep, and the final training days familiar.
- Choose two controllable cues: communicate early and respond to the next play.
During the session
- Scan before the ball arrives and stay connected when the ball is elsewhere.
- Recover after mistakes instead of trying to erase them with one risky play.
- Treat every player and coach with respect; behavior between repetitions is visible too.
When an offer arrives
- What is the roster size and who is the confirmed coach?
- What is the complete cost and the refund policy?
- What is the acceptance deadline, and can the details be sent in writing?
After any decision
Ask the player how the experience felt before reviewing performance. One selection decision is a snapshot of one environment, not a measurement of a player’s ceiling.
